1. Overview
NCB Company ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data Terra Concordia ("the Software") collects, how it's used, and your rights regarding that data.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Local Data (stored on your device)
Terra Concordia stores the following on your device only:
- Game saves — Located at
%APPDATA%/terra-concordia/saves/. Contains in-progress game state, scoring, civilization choices, settings. - Settings — Located at
%APPDATA%/terra-concordia/settings.json. Contains language, audio volumes, animation preferences, UI options.
This data NEVER leaves your device unless you opt in to Steam Cloud Save (see Section 2.3).
2.2 Data Sent to Steam (When Available)
When playing via Steam, the Steam Client collects standard data per Valve's Privacy Policy, including:
- Your Steam ID
- Game playtime
- Achievement progress
- Steam Cloud Save data (if Cloud Save is enabled by you)
- Friends list (only if you use multiplayer features)
We (NCB Company) do NOT receive this data directly — it goes to Valve. We only see aggregated, anonymized statistics through the Steamworks dashboard.
2.3 Multiplayer Data (Steam Networking + LAN)
When you use online multiplayer features:
- Your Steam ID and Steam Display Name are shared with other players in the lobby (Steam Networking only).
- Game state is sent peer-to-peer between players (Steam P2P or local WebSocket on LAN).
- We do NOT operate a backend server that stores your data.
- No chat, voice, or personal data is recorded or persisted.
- In LAN mode, your local IP address is broadcast on UDP 7778 for auto-discovery — only visible within your local network.
2.4 Analytics
We do NOT use:
- Google Analytics
- Facebook tracking pixels
- Third-party advertising networks
- Behavioral profiling
We MAY (in the future) use Steam's built-in aggregated analytics (anonymous, opt-out via Steam) to understand which scenarios are most played, average game length per variant, which difficulty settings are most chosen. This data is anonymous and cannot identify individual users.
3. How We Use Data
We use the limited data we have access to (via Steamworks dashboard) only to:
- Fix bugs and improve game balance.
- Decide which features to add (e.g., if no one plays Diplomacy variant, we may improve it).
- Send the right achievements when triggered.
We do NOT use your data to sell or share with third parties, target advertising, build personal profiles, or train AI models.
4. Data Sharing
We share data ONLY in these limited cases:
- With Valve (Steam): As required for Steam services (Cloud Save, Achievements, multiplayer).
- With other players: Your Steam ID and display name are visible to multiplayer opponents (this is how multiplayer works).
- With authorities: Only if compelled by valid legal process (subpoena, court order).
We will NEVER sell your data, share with advertisers/marketers, or trade data with other game studios.
5. Your Rights (LGPD — Brazilian Privacy Law & GDPR equivalents)
Under the Brazilian Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), and the EU GDPR (where applicable), you have the right to:
- Access — Request what data we have about you.
- Correction — Correct inaccurate data.
- Deletion — Request deletion of your data.
- Portability — Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdrawal of consent — Disable optional features (e.g., Steam Cloud).

6. Children's Privacy
Terra Concordia is rated 14+. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Steam requires users to be 13+ to create an account (with parental consent for minors in some jurisdictions).
7. Data Retention
- Local saves and settings: Stored on your device indefinitely. You can delete at any time via
%APPDATA%/terra-concordia/. - Steam Cloud Save: Subject to Valve's retention policy (typically until you delete your Steam account or the game).
- Achievements: Tied to your Steam account permanently per Valve.
8. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data, including:
- No backend server holding user data (peer-to-peer multiplayer).
- All Steam-related data flows through Valve's secure infrastructure.
- Local saves are stored in standard application data directories with OS-level permissions.
- In multiplayer, each player's hand cards and secret objective are redacted from broadcasts to other clients (per-viewer state redaction).
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Material changes will be announced via the game's main menu (next launch), our Steam Community page, and Discord server (if you're a member). Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance.
