Warning — photosensitive seizures. A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain visual images, including flashing lights or patterns that may appear in video games. Even people who have no history of seizures or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed condition that can cause these seizures.
If you or anyone in your family has ever had seizures or epilepsy, consult a doctor before playing.
Stop playing immediately and consult a doctor if you experience
- dizziness or lightheadedness;
- altered vision;
- eye or facial twitching;
- involuntary movements of the arms or legs;
- disorientation, confusion or momentary loss of awareness;
- convulsions.
Parents and guardians should watch over children and teenagers, who are more likely to experience these seizures, and ask them whether they have had any of these symptoms.
To reduce the risk
- Play in a well-lit room and sit a good distance from the screen.
- Use a smaller screen, if possible.
- Do not play when you are tired or drowsy.
- Take a 10- to 15-minute break every hour of play.
Comfort and posture
Playing for long periods can cause eye strain and pain in your muscles, joints, hands or wrists. Take breaks, keep a comfortable posture and stop playing if you feel pain, tingling or numbness. If the discomfort persists, see a doctor.
Game options that help
In Options, Terra Concordia lets you adjust the experience:
- Reduced animations: removes screen shaking and automatic camera flights.
- Scene effects: you can turn off night in the final rounds, the wonder effects, the living terrain, depth of field and the automatic camera flyovers.
- Graphics quality and frame rate limit, colorblind-safe colors, larger interface and sound captions.
- Match pace: makes the AI's moves and the summaries slower and calmer.
